A Signature Program
1890 Strong.
A closed-loop initiative connecting local restaurants, schools, and hospitals directly with the farmers and ranchers who feed Teton County.
What if every restaurant, school, and hospital plate in Jackson Hole started on a local farm?
The 1890 Strong Program encourages local establishments to purchase food directly from our farmers and ranchers. Our goal is to create a closed-loop system that keeps food dollars in the local and regional economy and keeps menus rooted in what's grown here.
We're building a platform where farmers and ranchers list their available food items and restaurants, schools, and hospitals place weekly orders. The Jackson Hole Farmers Alliance offers reimbursement to participating establishments on a sliding scale based on their purchases of fresh local food, a financial nudge to choose Teton County over a distant supplier.
The program has been in pilot phase for the past year. During the pilot, we've provided compensation to a Teton County school that purchased food locally. Early results are promising and we're working toward a full rollout.
Who it's for
Three kinds of kitchens, one local pipeline.
Restaurants
Source menu staples directly from the farms and ranches your guests already know by name.
Schools
Bring fresh, locally grown food into school meal programs. Our pilot has already supported a Teton County school doing exactly this.
Hospitals & care facilities
Nutritious, seasonal food in clinical settings, sourced from operations a short drive away.
How it works
Four pieces that close the loop.
Farmers list what's available
Our farmers and ranchers post their weekly availability on a shared platform.
Buyers order weekly
Local restaurants, schools, and hospitals place orders for the week ahead.
JH Farmers Alliance reimburses
A sliding-scale reimbursement makes local sourcing financially competitive with distant suppliers.
Dollars stay here
Food dollars circulate inside Teton County instead of leaving the valley.
